Welcome to Snake Head Knives, home of the world's first skateboard knife. The Dogtown
Skate Deck knife is an authorized copy of the artwork from Dogtown. This is not my copy or rendition, it is from the actual film files used by Dogtown to produce their skateboards.
My name is Ron Myers. The idea of a skateboard knife first came to me after seeing a couple movies about skateboarding. I did a little skating as a kid but not very much, still there was something about seeing skateboarding in movies that drew me in and that started a spark. Some time later I went to a bookstore to check out some skateboarding magazines. When I paged through the magazines, the graphics knocked me out. I thought to myself... why not a skateboard knife? The artwork was so great it would make a great knife handle. Today's knife world has become rather dull. Everything is a tactical knife, black handle, very plain. I'm not putting this type of knife down (I own a few myself), I just thought... let's do something colorful and fun. I made a few calls to people in the knife business and got a somewhat ho-hum response. But the next day, these same people called back and said "you know what? I think you're on to something". I was still not sure where to take this idea so I stopped by a local skateboarding shop. The owner looked at my initial drawings and told me there is only one place to take this to... Dogtown. That is just what I did and after many false starts and problems in manufacturing... here we are. In early August we are looking at launching our product. Initially there will be 3 designs to choose from at the LOW INTRODUCTORY PRICE of just $29.99!!! These knives are very well made and the finish is quite impressive. I would also like to say that this knife is made to be a collector's item as well as to be used to trim tape for your board... or any other chore a pocket knife would be used for. It is NOT a weapon! It was not made to be a weapon. If you tried to use it for such a purpose, it would most likely cut the users hand much worse than any damage it could inflict. On the other hand, this is not a toy. As such, it will not be sold to children. You must be at least 18 to buy this product. All state and federal laws will be followed. A knife is a tool... you must show it respect. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the most dangerous), I would rate using this knife at 1 (or slightly lower). Now skating down a flight of concrete steps or doing these fantastic aerial maneuvers I have seen... wow, that rates off the charts. A little common sense goes a long way when it comes to handling a knife. What we are selling is a tribute to the art and history of Dogtown and also to the fantastic world of skateboarding.
